With the roof now waterproof, we needed to finish up the insulation around the first level of the bothy and the gable ends. The combination of the insulation along with the stone exterior would ensure a comfortable environment no matter the season.

There was a fair amount of cutting to do to fit the panels of insulation snugly across the walls and gables. I and others did most of the measuring, John did most of the cutting using T-squares and his trusty utility knife.

We secured all of the insulation using 2 1/2 inch screws with a plastic washer attached. We got pretty good at figuring out where the studs and purlins were, although there were more than a few misses as we went along. We also had to be careful we didn't hit any of the wiring we had done earlier, thankfully John had a map of where he had put it and we avoided any mishaps.

After installing the insulation, we had to tape all the seams so that it really was windproof and sealed up nicely. You can see in the photo below John working with the tape we used.

And another shot below of the boys sealing up the corner. A good team effort, although one of them is in a somewhat compromising position.

The photo below shows we are almost done with all the taping and insulation for the walls and gable ends. John is working on the last piece for the end where all the electrical wiring goes into the circuit box.

At this point we are pretty much done with insulation and taping. There will be some more work once we install the HVAC into the second level, but that will be down the road some.
